HW for Tuesday, 1/14
Consider the poem we read in class today -- "A Poison Tree" by William Blake-- and explore one of these ideas. Your response must be at least 250 words long and be thoughtful and well organized and follow the formatting guidelines. Please save the document in your online "Writer's Notebook" and print a copy to turn in, as well.
1) Have you ever planned revenge or wanted to get back at someone who you felt treated you poorly? Did you carry out your plan? Did it havethe effect on the other person that you anticipated? How did it affect you?
2) How do you generally deal with anger at another person, especially a friend? Will you explain to that person why you are angry? Or, would you, like Blake's narrator, allow the anger to grow until it results in worse things happening?
3) Imagine that you are the narrator of Blake's poem. Write another 3 quatrains that show how what you did to your foe affected you. Are you pleased with the "success" of your plan? Are you filled with remorse and regret for your actions? Do you hope that you have sent a message to other foes not to mess with you? (FOR THIS ONE, YOU DO NOT NEED TO WROTE 250 WORDS, BUT YOUR 3 QUATRAINS MUST FOLLOW THE PATTERN SET BY BLAKE.)
